eBay Selling Research
This is our deep dive into eBay Research. This single page may be the one place that will end up making you the most money. Knowing what you have is crucial for your bottom line and doing item research for eBay is a way to maximize all your work. The most important thing is to have a few easy and quick tools, because while research is important, you don't want to spend 3 hours researching a spoon only to find out that it just sold 4 months ago on eBay for $2 plus shipping. So it is a balance of trying to find the most information in the shortest amount of time. I will show you how I do my eBay item research.
eBay Item Selling Research Stage One: Quick eBay Search
The very first thing I do while listing an item and before putting in a price is I do a quick keyword search for the particular item I am selling right on eBay. I navigate to the search bar and in our case study I am selling a vintage metal wagon I got at an estate sale. I will search eBay for "Vintage Cannon Toy"
eBay Search Item Research
I can see that there over 1,000 listings and that even the second item, with a very short description has a bid already. That is a good sign. It's good to know that there is a market, and also that there are not 10,000s of the these items up for sale. It seems to be a good mix and I see the price range these go for. But that is only for listed cannon toys, we want to do even deeper eBay item research and see what items actually sold. So next up we navigate to the left side of the screen and search by SOLD ITEMS.
